The Indian Armed Forces have launched ‘OPERATION SINDOOR’, striking nine terrorist infrastructure sites in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK), the Ministry of Defence announced in a statement today. The pre-dawn operation was a direct response to the barbaric Pahalgam terrorist attack that resulted in the death of 25 Indian citizens and one Nepali national.
According to the Ministry of Defence, the military action was "focused, measured and non-escalatory in nature." The statement emphasized that "No Pakistani military facilities have been targeted," underscoring India's restraint in the selection of targets and the method of execution. The operation aimed at disrupting terrorist networks from where attacks against India have been planned and directed.
The Ministry of Defence further stated, "These steps come in the wake of the barbaric Pahalgam terrorist attack in which 25 Indians and one Nepali citizen were murdered. We are living up to the commitment that those responsible for this attack will be held accountable."
The government has reiterated its firm stance against terrorism and its commitment to taking all necessary measures to safeguard national security and the lives of its citizens. Further details on 'OPERATION SINDOOR' are expected to be shared by officials later today.
